Body Lift
ARE YOU CONSIDERING BODY LIFT SURGERY?…
Body lift or Circumferential Abdominoplasty is performed for the following reasons:
-
Massive weight loss patients with sagging abdominal, buttock as well as thigh skin especially saddlebag skin.
-
Men and women with excessive adiposity in the “Muffin-top” area, who also require a tummy tuck.
-
Upper back fat can be removed in a similar fashion by Upper Body Lift procedures
ARE YOU A CANDIDATE?…
The effects of gravity, or massive weight loss may leave you with a surplus of sagging skin and soft tissue in the outer thigh, inner thigh, buttock or stomach area. For many people, eating right and exercising is not enough to replace the body contour that time and gravity have taken away. Our certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Ken Dolynchuk is here to help you defy the laws of aging and gravity.
Lower body lift surgery has been met with increasing popularity since its development over the past several years. Lower body lift involves re-suspending the skin and soft tissues of the thighs and buttocks and can result in a smoother and more youthful appearance. Upper body lift is best performed in those who have lost fat and the resulting skin sagging has occurred in the back areas.

THE PROCEDURE:
Lower Body Lift surgery can involve any or all of three procedures, depending on your concerns and desires. If you are interested in improvement of a saggy inner thigh, you can seek an Inner Thigh Lift. If you are interested in elevation of a saggy buttock and outer thigh, you can seek a Buttock Lift. If you suffer from a saggy stomach area, you can seek a Circumferential Tummy Tuck (or Abdominoplasty). When all procedures are performed concurrently, it is called a Total Body Lift. Staging the procedure may also be desirable.
An Inner Thigh Lift involves an incision high on the inner thigh near the groin crease. During surgery, excess skin is removed and the remaining skin is resuspended, leaving you with a tighter and more attractive inner thigh.
The outer thigh and buttock can be lifted separately through an incision across the back, above the buttock below the waist, along the hip. During surgery, excess skin is removed and the remaining skin is lifted, leaving you with a tighter and more attractive outer thigh and buttock. This is a Flankoplasty or Buttock Lift.
A Tummy Tuck or Abdominoplasty requires the removal of loose skin from the abdomen and tightening of the underlying muscles. It is performed in the operating room under general anesthesia, and may involve an overnight stay in the hospital. The incision is made along the bikini line and the resulting scar is not usually visible in swimwear. Although the incision is limited to the lower abdomen, the skin of the entire abdomen is tightened.
The Total Body Lift incorporates all components: Tummy Tuck, inner thigh lift, and outer thigh and buttock lift. The surgery is extensive, but the outcome can be gratifying. During surgery, excess skin is removed circumferentially in the beltline around the trunk and the remaining skin is tightened. Thus, you’ll be left with a tighter and more attractive body from front to back and side to side.
If your back skin is excessive in amount and is sagging a Back Lift or Upper Body Lift can be performed. An incision is made at the level of the bra-line across the side of the breast around the front about the lower rib level and the skin excess removed. It is an extensive procedure and is usually performed as part of a breast lift.
YOUR RECOVERY:
Depending on the extent of surgery, your facility stay can range from an outpatient procedure to two days. Any discomfort you may feel will be controlled by medication prescribed to you by your surgeon. Recovery time can be variable as well, but most patients are able to return back to non-strenuous work within three weeks. Usually full activities can be resumed in six weeks.
RISKS:
Body Lift procedures result in the removal of skin, therefore, scarring may occur in the areas where the incision is made. Scars resulting from Body Lift procedures are easily hidden by most swimsuits and under garments. In many cases, scar lines tend to fade as time passes. However, revision surgery can be an option for those who wish further improvement in their scars.
RESULTS:
When patients are properly educated on the Body Lift procedure, they are normally very satisfied with the outcome. However, it will take a few months to realize the full effects of the procedure. Scar revision may be necessary in the future. However, this is usually carried out under local at nominal cost.
